Teacher CV example

A teacher's CV has to show the head teacher your qualifications (education, teaching qualification, category), the subjects and grades you have taught, and your results: student achievement, exam results, olympiads, projects. Digital skills and inclusive education matter more every year.

Use this example for an English-language application in Lithuania: to an international or private school, or a school running an IB or Cambridge programme. Add any IB or Cambridge experience, and explain the Lithuanian terms an international reader may not know: your qualification category, the state school-leaving exam (VBE), what a gymnasium is.

What to put in a teacher CV

Qualifications and category

Education, teaching qualification and category (senior teacher, teacher-methodologist, teacher-expert), precisely and with years. An international school may not know the Lithuanian categories: use one English name for yours throughout, keep it next to your job title and explain it briefly in the cover letter.

Results that can be checked

Exam averages, olympiad prize-winners, projects: the head teacher values these most. Compare your results with the national average: a reader outside the Lithuanian system cannot judge a VBE score on its own.

Digital skills

The platforms you use and your remote-teaching experience: since 2020 this has been essential.

Form tutoring and parents

Form tutor experience and work with parents and learning support specialists: show it with concrete examples.

Most common mistakes

  • No results: the CV reads like a job description.
  • The qualification category or courses left out.
  • A CV that is too long and has no structure: the head teacher reads it quickly.

Frequently asked questions

Does a teacher need a cover letter?

Often, yes. Schools look at motivation and values. Half a page on why this school and what you can offer its students.

How do I write a CV with no teaching experience?

List your studies, teaching placements in schools, tutoring or camp-leader experience, volunteering with children and your digital skills.

Should I mention work at a private school or abroad?

Yes, it is an advantage: programmes (IB, Cambridge), languages, different teaching methods. For an international school, put it near the top.
